Echoes of “The Savior”
Eugene Drucker: Performance, Reading, and Book Signing
Experience an extraordinary evening of music, storytelling, and reflection with Grammy Award–winning violinist Eugene Drucker, co-founder of the legendary Emerson String Quartet. In this powerful program, Drucker performs Bach’s iconic Chaconne — a work he has carried to concert stages around the world — and reads select passages from his acclaimed novel The Savior, weaving together music and narrative to illuminate the story of a violinist confronting a profound moral dilemma in Nazi Germany. The evening concludes with a talkback and audience Q&A, offering a rare opportunity to hear Drucker reflect on performing with historic instruments and on music’s enduring power to confront history, offer solace, and inspire hope.
A reception with refreshments and light snacks, hosted by Congregation Shalom, will follow the program. Boswell Books will be the official bookseller for the evening; arrive early to purchase copies of The Savior and stay afterward for a book signing.
Presented in partnership with Violins of Hope–Wisconsin, Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO), and Frankly Music.
