Music: The Quill of the Soul

Music: The Quill of the Soul
Saturday, December 27 • 6:45 p.m.
Ovation Chai Point / Ovation Jewish Home
In Partnership with Violins of Hope – Wisconsin, presented by Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra
Music has the power to shape the soul, carry memory, and connect generations. Join RUACH, Congregation Beth Jehudah, and Ovation Communities for a meaningful evening of reflection, learning, and communal song with Music: The Quill of the Soul.
Rabbi Chaim Twerski, Assistant Rabbi of Congregation Beth Jehudah, will share insights into the Jewish perspective on music, exploring how melody, emotion, and environment leave their imprint on the human spirit. The evening continues with a kumzitz — a warm and intimate musical gathering led by Rabbi Michel Twerski, Rabbi of CBJ — inviting participants into shared song and connection.
As part of the Rubin Sharpe Tribute Series, this free program includes a display of historic instruments, presented in partnership with Violins of Hope: Wisconsin – presented by Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO). These lovingly restored instruments, each with its own powerful story, offer a moving visual and emotional complement to the evening’s themes of memory, resilience, and hope.
A reflective and uplifting program following Shabbat, this gathering offers a rare opportunity to experience music not only as sound, but as story, legacy, and soul.
Free and open to the community.
RSVP to joshua@ruachmilwaukee.org by Thursday, December 25.
