SUMMARY:The Violins of Hope Film Series: Winter Journey (Film 1/3) with Book Signing
DESCRIPTION:Winter Journey\nFriday\, January 9\, 20267:00 PMMilwaukee Public Museum – Gromme Auditorium800 W Wells St\, Milwaukee\, WI 53233 \nParking Instructions: Park in the MacArthur Square Public Parking Lot at 841 N. James Lovell St. Take the parking ticket when you enter and bring it with you to the event. You will receive a complimentary voucher\, and you must use both the original ticket and the voucher when exiting the parking lot. \nExperience an unforgettable evening at the intersection of history\, music\, and memory. Former NPR Performance Today host and author Martin Goldsmith is joined by celebrated violinist Eugene Drucker of the Emerson String Quartet for a profound exploration of art in the face of oppression. \nThe evening centers on a screening of the film Winter Journey (90 minutes)\, inspired by Goldsmith’s memoir The Inextinguishable Symphony: A True Story of Music and Love in Nazi Germany. The film recounts the powerful story of Goldsmith’s parents\, who met and performed in the Jewish Cultural League Orchestra in 1930s Germany — a cultural lifeline created under the harshest restrictions of the Nazi regime. \nGuests will be welcomed with an introduction from both Goldsmith and Drucker\, who will offer historical and artistic context before the screening. A post-film Q&A follows\, featuring a rich\, dual conversation: Goldsmith reflecting on his family’s legacy and Drucker providing the perspective of a world-class musician on the role of music as a source of hope\, defiance\, and cultural survival. \nPresented as part of Violins of Hope: Wisconsin\, presented by Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) \nBoswell Books will offer two books by Martin Goldsmith for purchase at the event: The Inextinguishable Symphony and Alex’s Wake. Also available will be Eugene’s Drucker’s “The Savior”. \nGET TICKETS \nhttps://violinsofhopewisconsin.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Marton-Goldsmith-film-promo.mp4
