29 The Allied Soldiers Violin

The reconstruction of this violin is dedicated to the memory of all soldiers who fought alongside the Allies against the Nazis and to all who gave their lives so that others might live in freedom and without fear.

The instrument itself carries clear traces of its long history, having been repaired in 1899 by J. Panzram in Elmdale, Kansas, leaving a record of its journey through time and across continents. The back of the violin is decorated with a precisely arranged ornamental inlay while the scroll bears a distinct carved design, and together these features give the instrument a distinctive visual identity in addition to its voice.

Now part of the Violins of Hope collection, this violin stands as both a work of craft and a memorial, its careful preservation and reconstruction ensuring that it continues to serve as a lasting tribute to courage, sacrifice, and the enduring presence of music even in times of war.
