First Stage: The Rose of Treason

As part of the Violins of Hope Wisconsin residency, our partners at First Stage reflect on their production of “The Rose of Treason,” inspired by the true story of the White Rose Society. The White Rose was a group of university students in Munich who engaged in peaceful resistance against the Nazi regime during World War II.

Through this work, young artists explore the emotional impact of telling a story centered on moral courage, loss, and the consequences of speaking out, reinforcing how stories of resistance continue to hold meaning across generations.

This video is part of the Violins of Hope Reflections series, highlighting the voices of artists, educators, and community partners participating in the Violins of Hope Wisconsin residency.
